Jack Lesko

Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering

Jack Lesko is a professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Lesko’s research is primarily focused on the mechanics of composite material systems. He investigates the interdisciplinary aspects of durability and damage mechanics for polymeric and composite material systems. His work has resulted in the implementation of in-service structures/systems using new multi-functional composite technologies and the creation of reliability-based standards for their design in industrial and international codes. Currently, he is exploring distributed and utility inter-operable power transfer systems for evolving smart grid, including policy and economic aspects of future deployment.

Lesko holds a Ph.D. in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech, a M.S. in engineering mechanics from Virginia Tech, and a B.S. in mechanical engineering from University of Maryland, College Park.
