About the Event:
Join Systems Planning and Analysis (SPA) for an insider look at today’s nuclear deterrence landscape. This session will break down major developments shaping U.S. nuclear strategy—from the rise of two nuclear peer competitors to the latest updates in the National Defense Strategy and Nuclear Posture Review. Students will also gain a clear overview of ongoing nuclear modernization efforts, including theater-level capabilities and the health of the nuclear industrial base.
The speaker will highlight real-world programs supported by SPA, such as the sea-based deterrent, the Sentinel ICBM, the SLCM-N program, and analytical tools used by the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
About the Speaker:
- Mr. Thomas S. Trayano, Vice President and Nuclear Modernization Fellow at SPA
Prior to joining SPA, Mr. Troyano served 28 years in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, including 22 years in the Senior Executive Service (SES) and two years as an Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense (DASD). His recent experience includes having led Milestone B approval by the Defense Acquisition Board (DAB) for two critical Air Force nuclear modernization programs - the Sentinel (GBSD) ICBM program and the Long-Range Stand-Off (LRSO) missile.
He holds a Master of Arts in Security Policy Studies and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from George Washington University.
