Date: Tuesday, November 11

Time: 6:00-7:00pm

Location: Zoom (RSVP to recieve the link)

Representatives from the FBI will give us an inside look at how linguists and language analysts contribute to national security. This seminar will explore how language skills are used to uncover intelligence, support investigations, and shape the Bureau’s global mission.

During the first half of the session, our two guest speakers will introduce linguist opportunities within the FBI and explain how to apply for both government and contract positions. They’ll discuss the day-to-day responsibilities of Contract Linguists and Employee Language Analysts, what skills and training are most valuable, and how language professionals advance their careers within the Bureau.

The second half will feature a Q&A session addressing topics such as eligibility, the background investigation process, and the FBI Honors Internship Program. We will then discuss the future of  technology and AI, and how advances in machine translation and artificial intelligence are transforming the role of linguists from translators to critical analysts who interpret cultural nuance, detect misinformation, and counter adversarial use of technology.
