RTX Fellowship Program
The core goal of this Workforce Development Program is to support RTX and its businesses with the identification and cultivation of a pipeline of clearable U.S. citizens interested in software development, systems engineering, system administration, and cybersecurity in support of national security missions. Selected students will attend bi-weekly lectures and participate in seminars related to the topics listed above to prepare them for guaranteed internships with RTX in summer 2025. All students in the program will receive a research stipend and will work on the program for 8-12 hours per week during the academic year.
Guaranteed Internship locations may include Richardson, TX, Aurora, CO, Cedar Rapids, IA, Greater Connecticut region, and additional select locations as they become available.
Contingent on performance throughout the academic year and internship, you may receive: offer to return to the program at VT for a second year of research, a full-time employment offer from RTX (including a signing bonus), and start your security clearance.
- All students in the program will receive a research stipend and will work on the program for 8-12 hours per week during the academic year

- Improving critical thinking skills, communication capabilities and other core skills

Students will be required to meet the following requirements for consideration:
- U.S. Citizen
- Rising sophomore or junior with an expected graduation date between May 2026 and May 2027
- Students should have an interest in software development, systems engineering, system administration, or cybersecurity
- Students must be able to obtain a clearance, students will need to review a security questionnaire and must be a U.S. Citizen
- Previous programming experience in C++, C#, Python, Java, or another OOP language
- Accept and participate in an RTX internship, locations may include Richardson, TX, Aurora, CO, Cedar Rapids, IA, Greater Connecticut region, and additional select locations as they become available
