Cultivating the next generation of national security leaders.

 

The Hume Center leads the Virginia Tech National Security Institute's education programs focused on the challenges of cybersecurity, autonomy, and resilience for the national security community. Educational programs provide mentorship, internship, scholarship, and seek to address key challenges in qualified US citizens entering federal and industry service. Current research initiatives housed in the Virginia Tech National Security Institute include machine learning and artificial intelligence, assured and secure communications, space and undersea missions, and 5G security.

    IC CAE Scholars have access to all the speakers and workshops we have and can list the IC CAE on their resumes and online applications which will be a significant help in getting positions. Through this program we can help make the contacts between students and agencies, national labs and private companies involved in national security work.

    RTX Fellowship Program
    RTX Fellowship Program

    The core goal of this Workforce Development Program is to support Raytheon and the Department of Defense (DoD) with the identification and cultivation of a pipeline of clearable U.S. citizens interested in cyber security and machine learning. Selected students will attend bi-weekly lectures, participate in seminars, and complete a project-based curriculum on topics related to cyber security and machine learning to prepare them for guaranteed internships at Raytheon or the DoD in summer 2022. All students in the program will receive a research stipend and will work on the program for 8-10 hours per week during the academic year. Contingent on performance throughout the academic year and internship, you may be offered a full-time position and start your security clearance as part of this program.
