About the Event
John Bergin, director of the Microsoft federal security team will discuss Federal Cyber Security requirements. During this discussion we will start by grounding ourselves in the current cyber security regimes impacting the U.S. Federal Government, Department of Defense, and members of the Defense Industrial Base. With a baseline of cyber security compliance requirements, we will talk about ways organizations can chose to successfully meet them using a Zero Trust/Cloud architecture. With a compliant baseline established, we can discuss risk vectors and potential mitigation strategies to deal with threats ranging from supply chain concerns to insider threats.
About the Speaker
John Bergin serves as the Director of Federal, Digital Security and Resilience at Microsoft. In this role he is responsible for ensuring Microsoft’s growing Federal business meets, or exceeds, the security standards of Microsoft Corp and Federal/Defense requirements. He works every day to deliver meaningful security, satisfy compliance requirements while ensuring we never lose sight of the user experience.
Prior to this role he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Army, Financial Information Management responsible for the cyber security, auditability, and business operations of all financial systems supporting the US Army. As a career member of the Senior Executive Service, he has also held senior roles in the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD) Chief Information Officer and OSD Chief Management Officer. Working for the Deputy Secretary of Defense Mr. Bergin was responsible for leading reform efforts that covered topics ranging from Military Health IT, Cloud Adoption by the Department, and Risk Management Framework Reform.
