About the Speakers

 

Souheir Carty - INR Deputy CHCO
Souheir B. Carty started as an HR Specialist with INR on March 21, 2016. She is the lead on Civil Service hiring, recruitment, and outreach in INR and represents the bureau on the IC Recruitment Committee. She previously worked in the Family Liaison Office where she served as the Crisis Management Officer. Souheir received her M.A. in Student Personnel Administration from Columbia University, N.Y. and her B.S. in Business Administration and Computer Science from Beirut University College, Lebanon. Throughout several overseas postings with her husband, Souheir worked as Community Liaison Office Coordinator in Amman, Jordan and Skopje, Macedonia. During her family’s most recent assignment to Buenos Aires, she joined the Consular team as a Biometrics Assistant and then served as Assistant Public Affairs Officer at the same post. She also worked for several years as a freelance translator (target language Arabic) with Save the Children UK and OXFAM UK

Branigan Rak - INR HR Specialist
Branigan W. Rak joined INR as an HR Specialist in September 2020. Her portfolio includes Civil & Foreign Service hiring, recruitment, performance management and on/offboarding of bureau personnel. She also represents the bureau on the IC Recruitment Committee. She previously worked in the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she served as an HR Specialist. Branigan received her B.S. in Communication Science & Disorders with a minor in Psychology from Florida State University. Prior to starting her career in Human Resources, Branigan worked as a Marketing Manager for a CPA firm. Branigan lives in Alexandria, Virginia with her husband and two Westies.
