Senior Military College Scholarship Opportunities
The Hume Center for National Security and Technology is offering scholarships for students interested in cybersecurity critical to the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community as part of Virginia Tech’s Senior Military College Cyber Institute Program. Interested and qualified students may apply below with the submission of their resume and a short essay (250 words or less).
General Requirements
- Overall 3.0 GPA or higher
- Capable of being granted a Top Secret level security clearance (refer to U.S. Intelligence Community careers - Security Clearance Process (intelligencecareers.gov))
- Enrolled in a cybersecurity-related field of study (defined by DoD CySP)
- Recipients must respond to surveys from program faculty requesting information on internship and job opportunities
- Recipients are highly encouraged to participate 1-2 times monthly in a career mentorship program led by faculty and special guests of the Hume Center and National Security Institute.
Critical Languages Scholarship
Currently Closed to Applicants
Students already fluent OR committed to learning a DoD critical language can apply for a $5000 scholarship for the Fall 2024 semester. Languages include Arabic, Mandarin, Hindi, Indonesian, Korean, Russian, and Turkish.
Additional Requirements:
- Previous experience or interest in learning a DoD Critical Language
- Studying or enrolled in an upcoming DoD Critical Language course or cultural program
- Interest in a US and/or DoD national security career
Corps of Cadets Cybersecurity Scholarship
Students with an interest in furthering their cybersecurity studies can apply for a $5000 scholarship for the Fall 2024 semester.
Additional Requirements:
- Member of the Corps of Cadets (both Commissioning or Non-Commissioning cadets)
- Must apply for a DoD Cyber Summer Internship Program (as allowed by Service requirements)
- Cadets on a full tuition scholarship are ineligible
