About the Event
A collaborative research project between Microsoft DC Engineering and the Hume Center, Virginia Tech students are researching what TikTok collects on you. By reviewing TikTok policy and intercepting TikTok traffic itself, this project is taking a cybersecurity approach to determine what TikTok knows about you and what they do with your information.
About the Speaker
Sartaj Singh Dham
Sartaj Singh Dhami received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Virginia Tech many moons ago. Since then, he has morphed his career working multiple aspects of the cybersecurity discipline. From technical analysis, policy, and building capabilities, Sartaj has provided cybersecurity expertise to National Security projects over the past 20 years. Sartaj supports Microsoft’s Security Response Center, specializing in cyber defense focusing on incident response and investigations. He is mentoring the TikTok Digital Privacy Project with Virginia Tech Hume Center Researchers Cameron Alemand, Benjamin Perry, Ian Rees, and Kaitlyn Yoha.
